Why I’m Tired All the Time: My Journey with Low Iron and a Winter Cold

Today I walked into a clinic expecting a quick check-up and walked out with two puffers and a nasal spray. Yep—classic Canadian winter. ❄️

I’ve been a little sickly since December (anyone else?) and haven’t felt fully back to my energetic self. Cough, congestion, fatigue—you name it. It's tough to heal when the weather’s dreary and you’re dragging your feet through snow and symptoms.
On top of the cold, my bloodwork revealed that my iron is still low. It has improved a bit since my first test back in September (yay small wins!), but it’s still not where it should be.
So, I’m following my doctor’s orders and loading up on:
· 🍖 Red meat
· 🥦 Dark leafy greens (hello spinach, broccoli, parsley)
· 🍊 Iron-absorbing buddies like vitamin C-rich foods
Ladies, this is your sign:
If you’ve been feeling extra sleepy, cold, or low energy, low iron might be the culprit! It’s surprisingly common, especially among women. Don’t be afraid to get your bloodwork checked and fuel your body with what it needs. 💪

And while you’re taking care of your body… Don’t forget to care for your mind and soul too. I’ve found that surrounding myself with little joys (like painting or hanging cheerful art at home) lifts my spirits on the greyest days.
Thanks for reading this little life update. I’m slowly healing, staying warm, and sipping soup like it's a full-time job. 😌
